Organisational Safety Profiling

Riskcom has created a unique process that enables us to map the overall safety profile of your business as a function of the six key principles. This analysis provides vital data and insight that we use that we use to diagnose the strengths and opportunities of your current culture/climate and helps us to define a path that will lead you to a safer operating culture. Organisational Safety Profiling is a mix of anonymous group survey, verbatim feedback and interactive workshops. At the end of the process, we will know what your people think about your safety culture and why they think it. This is priceless information for building a strategy to assist businesses to move from their current level of safety performance to their preferred level.

On Time Running Factor / Business Drivers

Armed with the information from the Organisational Safety Profiling exercise and working with teams within your organisation, Riskcom will help you to define and articulate the On Time Running Factor which is also described as the business drivers for your organisation. The On Time Running Factor may never before been articulated and tends to develop over time to drive employee behavior which maybe counter intuitive to the wishes of senior management. It is intimately linked to the culture and often sits below the waterline of organizational drivers.

Relationship Based Safety

Quality relationships are critical in building successful organisations. Leaders need to know how to engage with employees through meaningful conversation about issues that are important to them. The trigger for establishing the conversation is a mutual understanding between employees and leaders about your On Time Running Factor.

The Engagement process utilises our SPS™ framework of safety, Take 5 or JSA development to initiate and support effective communication between the manager/supervisor and employee. Effective communication with an emphasis on ‘active listening’ will build trust, credibility and respect within the organisation. This process coupled with effective hazard controls will yield a powerful engaged and outcome focused organisation.

A Tactical Framework

One of the great failings of leaders/managers is the ability to communicate effectively with their staff. Knowing what to discuss about safety and how to discuss it is tough for many supervisors/managers. Riskcom have combined the basic risk management tool of a ‘Take 5’ and incorporated it within a process of effective communication that is designed to promote respect and trust between supervisor/manager with the aim to foster better relationships.

Riskcom’s approach enables communication between a Manager and their Employee about relevant and meaningful safety issues that are important to both. Effective Managers understand their Employee’s interests and ideas in the work place and this knowledge provides the Manager with a significant opportunity to engage with employee’s and be involved in a meaningful discussion about safety.

This discussion is not about generalities and safety platitudes, it is about how employees understand production and service delivery objectives through a common understanding and framework of safety.
